Guide to Taipei with Toddlers - Phone card & WiFi

We got a 4G SIM card that came with unlimited data during our almost-two-weeks holiday in taiwan. It facilitated communication with the drivers and provided youtube-entertainment when we face serious meltdowns.

How to get Wifi in Taiwan:

Taiwan is one of the most connected cities in Asia. There are several ways to get wifi. Here are some:

1) Free Wifi at major indoor or outdoor public spaces - Go to www.tpe-free.taipei.gov.tw/tpe/en-tpe-guide_foreigner.html and register for an account

2) Buy ahead from Klook - you can get 4G SIM Card with unlimited data or an ultra speedy 4G device from Klook and pick it up in your city. Saves you time as you don't need to queue up to buy one at the airport and it was cheaper for us to get it from the airport then from klook.

3)Buy a 4G SIM card with unlimited data from the airport (recommended) - NT450 will get you 10 Days unlimited data with a local phone number that you can use to communicate with your local driver et cetera. Network reception is generally strong and you don't have to worry about if the area you are going provide free WiFi or not.

4) Free WIFI from hotels - quite common for hotels (even our 3 star farmstay motel had free wifi!) in taiwan to provide free WiFi so you can definitely make use of this without spending a dime of your own.
